The route

From the Plan de la Lai, the loop climbs through the pastures to the summit of the Rocher du Vent, at about 2,337 m. From the top, Lac de Roselend spreads out just below, with the small Lac de la Gittaz beside it and Mont Blanc on the horizon.

The route has some exposed sections and a short unlit tunnel: a head torch is useful. After rockfalls in spring 2024, Visorando advises against the balcony path and recommends going up via La Lauze.

Good to know

  • Snowfields can linger in June and early July.
  • The summit lives up to its name (“Wind Rock”): bring a windproof jacket.

Before you set off

Check the weather and the lake webcams, and the state of the trail with the official source: a route can be closed (works, rockfall, snow) without this page knowing.
