The route
The big loop starts at the Cormet, follows the road for about 2.7 km to the Plan de la Lai, then climbs steeply to the Presset hut and lake, below the Pierra Menta. The return goes over the Col du Bresson and the Col du Grand Fond, at 2,673 m.
This is a full day in the mountains. A shorter way up to the hut starts from the hamlet of Treicol, above the south shore of the lake (about 11 to 12 km there and back and 700 m of ascent, according to an unofficial source).
