The route

The longest outing in this guide: after about 7 km on the road from the Col de Méraillet, the loop climbs the Combe de la Neuva to Lac d’Amour, at the foot of the Pierra Menta, then crosses the Col du Grand Fond (2,673 m).

Waymarking is sometimes unclear towards the Pierra Menta, some stream crossings are tricky and snow can linger until August. Only for very fit hikers, in settled fine weather.
