What AlpeSnow publishes about Chamonix, gathered on one page: what you can see right now, the forecast for the village (1,035 m) and at altitude, and the pages that help you plan the day. Whether lifts and sites are open is always given by the official sources linked below.

Before you go: official sources

Webcams and forecasts do not tell you whether a lift, a site or a road is open. These official pages do.

Your questions

Before you go

How can I see what the weather is like in Chamonix right now?

The webcams at the top of this page show the sky at the time of each operator’s latest image; the forecast next to them comes from the Open-Meteo model and is recalculated every hour. For more views, open the Chamonix webcams page.

Is the weather the same in the village and at altitude?

Rarely. The forecast is given for the village (1,035 m) and for Bochard, Grands Montets (2,767 m): in the mountains it is colder higher up and the wind is often stronger. Before going up the Aiguille du Midi (3,842 m), check its webcam: a single cloud can hide the view.

Are the lifts and sites open?

This page does not say, and a webcam does not confirm it. The tourist office publishes the live lift status (link above); lifts close between seasons.

What can I do in Chamonix when it rains?

The “Things to do in Chamonix” guide lists indoor places (museums, swimming pool, ice rink, cinema) and fine-weather ideas, each with its official source.
