In short. The Praz de Lys – Sommand ski area publishes its webcams on its tourist office website: the Sommand webcam, at the foot of the slopes on the Sommand side (1,500 m), showing the snow cover, the road and the car park; the Chevaly webcam in the heart of Praz de Lys village (1,500 m); and those at Haut Fleury, Véran and Roy. The website’s legal notice forbids reproduction without permission, so this page links to the webcams and gives the ski area forecast.
Understanding the conditions
The Sommand webcam: the base area
This is the view people look for as “Sommand webcam”: the tourist office places it at the foot of the slopes on the Sommand side, at 1,500 m, and presents it as the way to see the snow cover, the state of the road and how busy the car park is. Before driving up on a snowy Saturday, it tells you whether the road is white and the car park filling up.
Praz de Lys: the Chevaly webcam
On the Praz de Lys side, the Chevaly webcam is at the top of the run of the same name, in the heart of the village, at 1,500 m; one of its views is the base area. The Haut Fleury webcam looks over the blue Lac run at the top of the ski area. The tourist office listed the Véran and Roy webcams as unavailable on 9 October 2026; some cameras are solar-powered and can freeze in very cold weather.
Two sides, one ski area
Sommand and Praz de Lys are the two sides of the Praz de Lys – Sommand ski area (55 km of runs according to our catalogue), linked by the Véran chairlift according to the tourist office. The season is announced from 19 December 2026 to 4 April 2027. The forecast at the top of the page is calculated for Praz de Lys village (1,500 m) and Haut-Fleury (1,961 m), the same as on the resort page.
The webcams show the sky and visibility when the image was taken. The 7-day forecast is an Open-Meteo model estimate for Praz de Lys village (1,500 m) and Haut-Fleury (1,961 m), the same as on the resort page, recalculated every hour. This page shows no measured snow depth and does not derive one from the forecast. None of these tells you whether a slope or lift is open; the official report does.
At the foot of the slopes on the Sommand side, at 1,500 m, according to the tourist office. It shows the snow cover, the road and the car park; you can view it on the official webcam page.
Why are the Sommand and Praz de Lys webcam images not shown here?
The official website’s terms of use do not allow its content to be reproduced without written consent. AlpeSnow respects this: the page links straight to each webcam on the resort’s website and adds the forecast and snow information.
Are Sommand and Praz de Lys the same resort?
Yes: they are the two sides of the Praz de Lys – Sommand ski area, linked by the Véran chairlift (tourist office).
Can a webcam tell me whether the Sommand and Praz de Lys slopes are open?
No. Snow on an image confirms neither that the slopes nor that the lifts are open: only the resort’s official report says so, with its date.
What is the weather forecast for Sommand and Praz de Lys?
The 7-day forecast at the top of the page is the Open-Meteo model forecast for Praz de Lys village (1,500 m) and Haut-Fleury (1,961 m), the same as on the resort page, recalculated every hour. It is an estimate, not an on-site measurement.
